New content updates are released regularly for Fallout 76 that are free for all players. The contents of these major updates include, for example, new public events, new expeditions, or map expansions. A new season also starts with every content update.

Latest 2024 Roadmap
Bethesda publishes a community calendar for each season that contains all updates and events for the coming weeks. The current Season 16 Community Calendar includes the following events coming to Fallout 76 from March until June 2024
In the first few years after the Fallout 76 launch, Bethesda published a full Fallout 76 roadmap once a year, detailing the next major updates to come. Such an annual Fo76 roadmap has not been published for some time. Instead, there are several community calendars per year.

These are the upcoming updates already announced by Bethesda but not yet published:
Skyline Valley (June 2024)
Skyline Valley is the second major FO76 update in 2024. It features an expanded map with new locations based on the real-world Shenandoah region, Vault 63 which is inhabited by electric ghouls called “The Lost”, and the start of Season 17.

Atlantic City – America’s Playground (March 26, 2024)
Atlantic City – America’s Playground is the first major FO76 update in 2024. It features an all-new questline, Fallout’s take on post-nuclear New Jersey, and the start of Season 16.

Atlantic City – Boardwalk Paradise (December 5, 2023)
Atlantic City is the third major FO76 update in 2023. It features new locations, new factions, new creatures, new missions, new rewards, and a casino to test your luck.
Once in a Blue Moon (June 20, 2023)
Once in a Blue Moon is the second major FO76 update in 2023. It features new Cryptids, Public Events, Daily Quests, and Season 13.
Mutation Invasion (February 28, 2023)
Mutation Invasion is the first major FO76 in 2023. It features Mutated Public Events, new rewards, Daily Ops improvements, and Season 12.
Released Updates – 2022
Nuka-World on Tour (December 6, 2022)
Nuka-World on Tour is the last FO76 update in 2022. It features new Public Events, a new region boss Public Event, and Season 11.
Expeditions: The Pitt (September 13, 2022)
Expeditions: The Pitt is a free Fallout 76 update coming in 2022. For the first time in the history of Fallout 76, it will take players outside West Virginia. You’ll explore the irradiated ruins of Pittsburgh, also known as “The Pitt”. The update will also start Season 10.
Test Your Metal (June 14, 2022)
Test Your Metal is a major Fallout 76 update coming in June 2022. It will feature the three new Public Events Test Your Metal, Eviction Notice and Moonshine Jamboree, Season 9, and Fallout 1st Scoreboard upgrades.
Invaders from Beyond (March 1, 2022)
Invaders from Beyond is the first major FO76 update in 2022. It will include Season 8, the new seasonal event Invaders from Beyond, invisible backpacks, Fallout World improvements, Stimpak adjustments, and more.
Released Updates – 2021
In 2021, four major updates were released: Locked & Loaded, Steel Reign, Fallout Worlds, and The Night of the Moth.
Night of the Moth (December 8, 2021)
The Night of the Moth update is planned for December 2021. It will start Season 7 and bring the Mothman Equinox seasonal event. Also included are several QoL improvements like legendary loot sharing, Team XP sharing, a Pip-Boy Keyring, Pip-Boy menu color customization, highlighted corpses, and nearby corpse looting.
Fallout Worlds (September 8, 2021)
Fallout World brought two new game modes: Public World and Custom World. Public Worlds are a rotating series of Worlds with a unique play experience made by the Bethesda team and available to all players. Custom Worlds give Fallout Fallout 1st members the opportunity to customize their own World and invite friends.
Steel Reign (July 7, 2021)
The Steel Reign update provided the final chapter in the Brotherhood of Steel questline. Alongside the new questline, Steel Reign also contained new locations and gear as well as legendary crafting, wallet upgrades, a new Gold Bullion vendor, and the start of season 5.
Locked & Loaded (April 27, 2021)
With the Locked & Loaded update, Season 4 started in Fallout 76. It also includes the Punch Card Machines to reset your S.P.E.C.I.A.L., change your perks and save them into one of two custom loadouts after level 25. Several UI improvements, a second C.A.M.P., more Daily Ops content as well as Vending Machine and Display Case Updates were also included.
Released Updates – 2020
In 2020, four major Fallout 76 updates were released: Wastelanders, the Seasons-Update, One Wasteland for All and Steel Dawn.
Steel Dawn (November 24, 2020)
In Steel Dawn, the Brotherhood of Steel has returned to Appalachia. The update includes a new questline in the context of which you meet new faces, explore new locations, and gear up with new rewards. C.A.M.P. builders can now make use of C.A.M.P. shelters and all negative effects from Hunger and Thirst were removed.
One Wasteland for All (September 15, 2020)
Update 22 brought One Wasteland to Fallout 76 (creatures levels now adjust dynamically to more closely match character levels). The update started Season 2 and included Daily Ops and Legendary Perks.
Seasons / Legendary Run (June 30, 2020)
Update 20 kicked of The Legendary Run and therewith introduced seasons to Fallout 76. Seasons are an account-wide progressions system that replaced the Challenges and offers a lot of in-game rewards. The update also included Public Teams with the goal to bring players together easily.
Wastelanders (April 14, 2020)
The free Wasterlanders update brought human NPCs to West Virginia. Along with the NPCs came a new dialogue system, a new main story quest, new creatures, new gear and two opposing factions with an all-new reputation system.
Released Updates – 2019
In 2019, two major Fallout 76 updates were released: Wild Appalachia and Nuclear Winter.
Nuclear Winter (June 10, 2019)
The Nuclear Winter update introduced a new mode that combined the competitive battle royale style with popular Fallout mechanics. Nuclear Winter Mode was permanently deactivated with the Fallout Worlds update in September 2021 due to a lack of popularity and the challenge to provide meaningful updates for the mode.
Wild Appalachia (March 13, 2019)
Wild Appalachia was the first big update for Fallout 76. Over the course of several months, tons of new content were added to the game, including Brewing and Distilling, the seasonal event Fasnacht Parade, the new Survival mode, new quests as well as a legendary vendor to exchance and scrap legendary items.
