“It wasn’t a high speed pursuit necessarily. It was fairly slow at most times,” Sheriff Michael Main from the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office said. “The vehicle traveled down into our county, almost to the Rosebush area.”

Although it was a slow ride, the sheriff said it was still a tense situation.

“The driver, prior to that, about a mile, had been waving a gun out the window,” Main said.

It wasn’t until his car died that the suspect took drastic measures.

“It does appear that he took a shot at the officer and then ran into a local company that had several employees in it. The person ran through the building and then exited back out of the building,” Main said.

The oil and natural gas company Mears was on lockdown during the manhunt.

“Once we were comfortable that the person wasn’t in and around those buildings, we brought in law enforcement and we brought those folks out,” Main said.

The suspect ran from that scene and ended up hiding underneath a porch of someone’s home.

“So at that point in time, you know, we set up a perimeter. We were able, through some investigative leads and some tether, to track him down to a house,” Main said. “The team kind of set up and were able to see him come out from underneath the house, basically maybe a crawlspace area and took him into custody without any injuries.”

The suspect was taken to a local hospital looked at due to being in the cold for an extended amount of time.

As of right now, the sheriff’s office is not releasing the suspects name.
